Meet the Team

Peter Schwalm

Peter founded PLS in 1984, and as President he remains  involved in the daily operations.  Peter has grown PLS into one of the most well-known and respected landscape maintenance, design and build companies in Bucks County.  He is also a licensed PA Pesticide applicator, has been certified by the PA State Motor Vehicles Safety Training and does continuing education classes through the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute.  He has taken extensive leadership and management training over the years, and continues to, so that he can provide the best atmosphere for everyone here.  “I love the fact that everyday is a new challenge, and I feel fortunate that I’m able to enrich people’s lives and provide a career for dozens of people.”  “I’ve always worked hard to be the type of leader that provides an environment where people can work and flourish.  We have employees who have been here for over 20 years – my first employee still works here!”  It’s been a pleasure and an honor to be rooted in New Hope for so long.  It has enabled me to cultivate long-lasting relationships with my customers, many of whom I have become friends with.   In his free time you can find Peter exercising or training for a marathon with his wife Mary, attending local New Hope events with friends or cruising down the street on his Harley listening to Bon Jovi.

Matt Stachel

Matt is one of our Landscape Designers and is the newest member of PLS.  He started with us in January of 2021.  At the age of 12 Matt started cutting grass in his neighborhood, and upon graduating high school he started his own landscape company, which built projects in PA, NJ, and FL.  After 24 years, he decided to venture into the Internet/Software industries, but after 5 years he really missed designing projects and being outdoors.  Matt is a committee member on two transportation safety panels and has given Transportation Safety Talks at state and national conventions.  He has also been invited to speak with entrepreneurial students at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.  “I love meeting and chatting with new people.  To me, there is nothing better than listening to people describe their dream outdoor living space, and being the one who gets to design it.  I value the fact that people are trusting me with their home, and nothing is better than seeing the joy on their face when the project is complete.”  “I joined PLS, partly because I’ve known Peter for almost 15, but mostly because of the TEAM environment that is encouraged and promoted here.  The culture and the people are second to none.”  In his free time you can find Matt out and about in Philadelphia with friends, spending time with his siblings and niece or reading some books about business.
